Oh, I forgot to comment on the Randy Alcorn book, "Heaven." I have it also and read it a couple of years ago. It is WONDERFUL! I love the way he writes. I have bunches of his books, mostly fiction. They are impossible to put down. I also have his "Pro-Life Answers to Pro-Choice Arguments" that is SO good - it totally itemizes in great detail what pro-abortion people argue and just blows all these ideas out of the water with sound doctrine and facts.

So glad you're enjoying "Worship Matters" - I'm still reading it and digesting it as I go along. the highlighter is a great idea. I got a little paperback from my sister in law called "Getting to No - How to Break a Stubborn Habit" by Erwin Lutz and published by Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (is she trying to tell me something? More likely God is). I didn't think I'd like it but God is using it to get my life in the direction of more "together," PTL. I bought Jonathan two Mike Huckabee books for Christmas - the one you have and one called "Character Counts" (which I read between the time I bought it and Christmas). I love the way he writes - he's so open. One might think he's bragging when he describes what he did when he was becoming governor, but then he talks about how everything good we do and have comes from God and really takes no credit whatsoever for it himself. Can't wait to read "Do the Right Thing." I also love the Jan Karon books and have one I haven't read but can't remember which one it is. Michelle, any time you want to borrow, just let me know!

I read "Twilight" and "New Moon" a few weeks ago, and just started "Eclipse" yesterday. I picked up "Twilight" because my oldest (who just turned 12) wanted to read it because a few of her friends are. I wanted to preview it first, and boy am I glad I did! I told her when she is older she can read it but not now. I don't want my impressionable 12 year old to think it's ok to have a boy alone with her in her room, for starters!

However, I think your idea of reading them first and deciding for your daughter yourself is wise.

THANKS! for the recommendation of the book, "Secrets about Guys that shouldn't be secret". My girls and I are reading/fighting over it...where will it be?! On a bed, on a desk, in the bathroom :), on a couch, in the kitchen?! I could get more copies, but that would take the fun out of sharing!
Blessings to you and your family during the new year!

I love all things Christmas. And I love books! When they're combined, it's all the more special. This year I received four: "Small Town Christmas" by Debbie Macomber; "The Christmas Box," by Richard Paul Evans (Am I the only one who hasn't read this best seller yet?); "The Christmas Sweater," by Glenn Beck; and "Grace," also by Richard Paul Evans. Am eager to get into them. Though I may save one or two for next year's Christmas season.

My husband brought "Worship Matters" home to me after a Together for the Gospel conference. It is an excellent book!

I read the first two Twilight books and decided not to read any more. My younger sisters love them, so I thought I should see what the fuss is about. I was disappointed. The two main characters seem to be very self-absorbed and foolish. That's not love. Or, at least, it isn't what love ought to be.
